The Divide Within Evokes the emotional and psychological split between self and expectation—mirroring the visual split of the two waterfalls and the physical separation within the landscape.
My art explores the tension between individual identity and societal expectation, a duality often felt as a constant pull in opposing directions.
This piece, featuring a coastal cliff adorned with twin waterfalls, visually embodies this struggle. The cascading waters represent the natural flow of our authentic selves, contrasting sharply with the rigid, unyielding cliff face symbolizing external pressures and expectations. Perched precariously at the cliff's edge, a church and a homestead further reinforce this dichotomy.
They represent established structures, both societal and familial, that often dictate how we should live and who we should be. They stand in stark contrast to the wild, untamed beauty of the natural landscape, prompting the viewer to consider the inherent conflict between conforming to external norms and embracing one's true, individual path.
Through this imagery, I aim to spark a dialogue about the importance of self-discovery and the courage required to navigate the complex landscape of personal freedom versus societal pressures.
Production & Shipping
Shipping is always free
(yes, even the big ones that come in a box!)
When you order a limited edition print, the process to your door is about 10 days.
Your order will be hand printed, signed and numbered. This take me about 3-4 days. I need to make sure everything is perfect and dried completely. From there, another couple of days for framing. Then packed carefully and shipped to your door (for free!).
You'll also receive a certificate of authenticity for your print. Many people simply tape this to the back of the frame for ease of finding it. This will not decrease the value of the print if it ever goes to auction, etc.
I normally use Hahnemühle Photo Rag 308 as my go to printing paper. It's not cheap, but gives you great details, is 100% cotton and museum quality and has no optical brighteners. It's a heavy paper so expect to be able to see the texture of the print in the frame. These paper is what's hanging in the museums and galleries that I'm featured in.
